Initially of all, wow! The place has summertime long gone? How can it maybe be September currently???
This is only heading to be a shorter blog, but I just wanted to share a small fix occupation that I have been doing work on now. The consumer to begin with despatched me an e mail a few months back, as she’d been informed by a substantial street jeweller that her sentimental gold costume ring, wasn’t in a position to be resized. Que that minimal evil little bit in my brain that just needs to demonstrate them improper and display that it IS feasible, and voila! 1 resized garnet and pearl dress ring. Sure, it IS a delicate ring, so she’s not heading to be ready to dress in it each and every working day, but at least it now CAN be worn, fairly than becoming destined to sit in a box endlessly!
The ring in dilemma – so gorgeous!
It’s 9ct gold, established with garnets and pearls and is extremely fragile, but definitely not outside of repair service. It’s a “dress ring” and will never ever have been supposed to be worn all of the time.

The ring shank has some fragile engraving all close to it, and since it’s a pretty smaller ring, the hallmark took up most of the accessible house, so I experienced to choose the place to make the slice really meticulously.
Adding the new gold
It’s all thanks to my Dado laser welder in this article. It meant that I could include in a new portion of gold and “weld” it in put with no jeopardizing heating (and ruining!) the pearls.
Cleaning up
Once the new piece of gold was welded, it was just a circumstance of pretty cautiously cleansing up the joins.

The more recent gold alloy was a a bit various color, but it’ll all mix in with a polish.

Yes, you can see the sign up for if you look intently, but at times it is not all about fully hiding the new part. This ring was about preservation and building it wearable yet again.
